本剧围绕着几个归国创业者种种鲜为人知迂回曲折的经历，生动逼真的描绘了一幅幅色彩斑斓的中国当代社会众生相，奏响了知识经济时代的命运交响曲。《故乡的云》剧照剧中既有奋勇拼搏的海归派，又有个性张扬的新新人类；既有淡泊功名，无怨无悔的知识分子，又有愚昧陈腐的技术官僚；既有狡诈的“企业家”，又有钻营的投机者，既有老谋深算的跨国公司总裁，又有正直率真的科学家……文化的差异摩擦出耐人寻味的火花，不同的价值取向铸就悲欢离合。创新力量在守旧机制中突围，创业英雄在坎坷中一次次悲壮的失败，民族高新产业在强大的跨国公司面前昂首屹立……首部中国留学生回国创业题材的电视剧《故乡的云》，这部戏将让观众了解光环之下的“海归”故事。值得一提的是，该剧的制片人就是原《红楼梦》中袭人的扮演者袁玫，这也是她首次制作的电视剧。袁玫说，她自己觉得，整个故事的构架不错，剧情一波三折。譬如在写男主角回国的动机方面，剧中不是说大道理，他也有心理矛盾，美国方面给他一个好职位，可以有更好的环境和条件做学术研究，但是条件是要他加入美国国籍。在面临选择的时候，他并不是一下子就决定为了报效祖国而放弃这一切，对这种剧烈的心理斗争的描写，很有震撼力。男主角石凉就是一位真正的“海归”，袁玫说：“石凉是剧中最有魅力的人物，他把握人物的形象和心理都拿捏得很好，可以说，这些并不是每个人都可以演出来的。”石凉则谦虚地表示，他在法国读过3年MBA，是个真正的“海归”了，就是因为这样，他才被导演看中。

剧情：
