CBS在新喜剧上表现无力下把歪脑筋动到《生活大爆炸TheBigBangTheory》的Sheldon身上，早前他们宣布开发《生活大爆炸》衍生前传剧，現CBS确定预订命名为《小谢尔顿YoungSheldon》的衍生剧，顾名思义就是以SheldonCooper为主角。该剧定于17-18年度播出。这部喜剧主角不是Sheldon成年版，而是以他9岁时为背景，剧集也会以《马尔柯姆的一家MalcolmintheMiddle》的单镜头家庭喜剧方式制作，讲述Sheldon当年在德州东部的家庭及学校生活。ChuckLorre与BillPrady为主创兼执行制片﹑SteveMolaro﹑ToddSpiewak与在《生活大爆炸》饰演Sheldon的JimParsons为制作人兼执行制片。在过往剧情中，可得知Sheldon的家人包括哥哥George﹑异卵双胞胎姐妹Missy﹑有宗教信仰的妈妈MaryCooper，以及酗酒的爸爸GeorgeCooper。另外Sheldon还有外婆（Meemaw）及外公（PopPop），外公在Sheldon5岁时去世。该剧由JonFavreau执导，IainArmitage将饰演年轻版的SheldonCooper﹑ZoePerry饰演其母亲MaryCooper﹑LanceBarber饰演Sheldon的父亲﹑RaeganRevord及MontanaJordan饰演Sheldon的兄妹（姐？）﹑AnniePotts饰演外婆。

Fran, on the other hand, is nervous to meet Lenny as she has exaggerated who "Fran Fine" is in her letters. But Fran agrees to meet Lenny at the Russian Tea Room, each identifying the other by the red rose worn on their lapels.
